Pet Cremation Cost - Variable Depending on your Choice

Unlike human cremations, Sunshine Coast pet cremation cost varies because of several factors. Where humans tend to have uniform weight and build (minus some exceptions), animals are of different sizes and weights.

However, like human cremation, costs also vary because of the many desires, wants, and specifications of relatives or those left behind. In cremating pets, there are also other factors which might change some of the familiar rates.

The overall cost of cremating pets depends on many factors. These include the type of pet, the weight and size of the pet involved. There are also cost variations depending on the type of cremation (communal, partitioned or private) and other special services and equipments that may be involved.

Type / size

Pet crematories initially base their rates on the size of the pet to be cremated. Pocket pets like hamsters, birds, reptiles, etc.) are the smallest and they are the least expensive of the lot.

Larger pets (goats, pigs, horses, etc.) are some of the mores expensive pets to cremate due to their sizes and weights. A crematory may charge as low as $35 to cremate a pocket pet while the cost of cremating a horse (the largest) can run to anywhere around $300 to $1500.

For regular pets (dogs and cats) the variance of the costs will depend on the type of cremation (communal, partitioned or private). The price will also vary depending on the location. Generally, the starting price is around $75 to $150.

Communal / partitioned / private cremation

To save on costs, some cremation services providers offer communal cremation. This involves more than one pet that will be cremated at the same time, with no physical barrier to prevent a pet’s ashes from being mixed with those of the others. The cost is around $50 to $65.

Partitioned cremation still involves cremating several pets all at once, but using physical barriers (bricks, trays, et.) inside the crematorium chambers to maintain separation of the pets’ ashes from one another. The price here depends on the size of your pet.

The prices for pocket pets (birds, hamsters, reptiles, etc.) begin at $95 for a partitioned cremation. Smaller pets (cats, rabbits) start at $160 for a partitioned cremation.

The most expensive is private cremation. This is where the body of only one pet is cremated in the chambers. The prices generally range from $125 to $275.

Urns / others

Pet cremation providers can also help the owners memorializing their pets with the use of a variety of urns and other products. If you want to scatter the remains of your pet right away, you can use a temporary urn which may be included in the basic cremation costs.

If you want to store your pet’s ashes, permanent urns are also available from the cremation service providers or from online sources. The prices will vary according to the size you need, the material it is made of, and the design perhaps.

There’s also a difference if you buy it from a retailer or from the pet crematory. Sunshine Coast pet cremation cost, like the others, are subject to changes according to your needs.
